Primitive Gatherings Update

"Your wings already exist.  All you have to do is fly"
~unknown

This is "Elizabeth's Garden".   I'm late for showing this here.  It's on the Primitive Gathering site now.  A hand stitched cloth painting using only early bits and pieces of old quilts and scraps recycled into a new piece of folk art.  Click on the link above for more info.  And to read more about Elizabeth's real garden click here.

Creature Comforts - The Garden

Just a little fun to share with your today. I'm busy getting ready for a Spring Open House at 1824 Antiques next week and have been watching "the you tube" as my daughter calls it.

If you've never seen Creature Comforts, you will be hooked.

These are short British films about how animals feel on a subject....this one being the garden (big surprise there)....featuring voices of the British public "spoken" by the animals.

The dialogue was created by interviewing residents for television or documentaries where they attempt to give a meaningful and persuasive but simple conclusive answer to a general question.

Addicting!

Happy Wednesday.

Inspiration Fridays are back for the Birds!

I don't know what it is about these little creatures that I love but I just can't seem to get enough of them.

When I was coming up with a name for my business it was either going to be Rabbit Hill or Robin Hill Primitives.  I choose Rabbit Hill because we already had a place in our area called Robin Hill Park.

This little one has a nest in a bird house right outside my studio door.  Anytime Hannah (old lady kitty) comes to visit me all I hear is chick a dee dee dee chirping angrily at her.

One of my favorite stories about birds was in Southern Living Magazine last year.  It is about Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, which is a beautiful garden designed specifically for the birds in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina.

It is the former home of Elizabeth and Eddie Clarkson.  It started after Elizabeth contracted a mysterious illness in the 1930s and was recommend extended bed rest. She became enchanted with all of the birds she could see from either her bedroom window or a cot in the garden.  She started to look at things from the birds’ point of view, adding numerous feeders, birdbaths, and food producing plants.  It's an inspiring sweet story that's left a legacy there in Charlotte.  To visit her garden click here.

I'm working on a new little project with these little winged fellows in mind.  Hopefully it will be done in time for the Primitive Gatherings update on the 15th.  Stay tuned.  :)

p.s.  My heart loves these little ones also....someday I'll tell you about Laverne and Shirley :)

Crazy Days ~ Update Tonight 8 p.m. est

Dear Lord, please let me get it together.  Thank you. Amen.

It's been one of those days....not a bad day just a "weird" day.  Like when try to eat a strawberry and it falls off your fork right before you get it in your mouth THEN you accidentally step on it in your bare feet.  That kind of day.  These kinds of days must mean something.  I'm not sure what but there's got to be something to learn.  I'll bet for sure patience is in there somewhere.  Well the day is coming to a close and I'm looking forward to watching Harry Connick Jr. on American Idol tonight!

I've also got an update coming up tonight at 8:00 p.m eastern time.  If you have a moment stop by and take a looksy.  Rabbit Hill Primitives

Thank you and good night ;)
