"There is no peace that cannot be found in the present moment.” ~ Tasha Tudor

The sewing room is cleaned and semi organized again. I was getting lost in there but now I feel better. We had quite a September of surprises....some good and some bad. I don't like to write about bad here and everything ended up okay.
Unfortunately, I didn't make it to my friends show at 1824 antiques and feel like I missed so much. I was lucky to still have a few goods there although I would have rather been there myself!
This was the grand reopening of 1824 antiques. Called 1824 because that was when the Jonathan Walker house was built. Jonathan was Audrey's great great great grandfather.
Audrey and her husband David, moved the house to their family farm about 4 years ago and have worked so hard bringing it back to it's original state. It is beautiful!!  You can view more pictures of the house and show here on her website.

Things are looking up and I'm thinking positive thoughts, so I am taking out my broom and dusting off the cobwebs on my website. I am changing things a bit (for now) on the way I list them. Starting the morning of October 15th, I will be adding new goods off and on all week. I am finding that with our schedule this school year, family things and commitments, plus getting ready for shows, I don't have as much time to list everything all at once like I used to.
Thanks for hanging in there with me and thank you always for your kindness and friendships.
I treasure every one of you!!

A word and a recipe ~ Pumpkin Pie Crunch Squares

Hi my friends!  Hope your weekend has been good and the sun came out to say hello!  Our skies were the bluest I've seen in a while.  I love those autumn skies.  My weekend was just perfect.  We spent it mostly on Lydia's schedule ~ ha ha! She sure keeps us busy but that's okay, she is my greatest joy!!

I made this recipe last week.  I use the excuse that it was for a friend and my mom (who is still recovering and doing very well) but we ALL know the real truth!

Pumpkin Pie Crunch Squares

1 - 12 oz. can evaporated milk
2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 C. sugar
3 beaten eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 - large can pumpkin
1 pkg. yellow cake mix
1 C. chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
3/4 C.butter

Combine evaporated milk, eggs, spice, salt, sugar, & pumpkin. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan.

Evenly spread dry cake mix over top. Sprinkle chopped nuts over top of cake mix.  (You can use crushed pretzels if you have a nut allergy.)  Thinly slice butter and place over top of nuts.

Bake 50 minutes at 350 degrees.

Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.

Eat entire pan and blame it on someone else!

Biggest hugs ~ Jenn

Fall is calling

Only a few more days of summer.   I can see the changes AND feel the changes.  I'm not ready to give up my flip flops yet but deep inside my heart I feel that yearning for fall to come.

Here in Pennsylvania, all the wine and purple colors are in bloom.  They are so beautiful!

I had to snipped a bunch of these berries before Dino got to them.  They are hanging in the tree above where my car is parked and I know its just a matter of time before they will meet their demise.

Hope your having a lovely week.  I just needed to check in and say hi!

I'm busy getting ready for a big show on October 6th at 1824 Antiques.  I'll post some pictures next time of work in progress and also have some great new recipes to share.

Wishing you all well and a happy Thursday.

Earlywork Mercantile ~ September's New Offerings

This little idea came to me while looking through some fall magazines earlier this week.  I found a picture of a real pumpkin carved into a bird in a cage but the cage looked more like he was in a house, so cute...courtesy of  an old Martha S. magazine I think.

Soooo I've become obsessed with making these little pumpkin cottages this week.  I'm offering the three below this month on Earlyworks but will have more to offer once I get my b@#* in gear and update my website!

The small one on the right is a mouse cottage and comes with a little mouse wearing a babushka....on far right in corner.

Thanks always for stopping by.
Happy Weekend!!
